As part of the official programme of the Venice Pavilion at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, the volume Proactive Reconstruction, curated by Urbicide Task Force, gathers international contributions that address the complexities of rebuilding in fragile and post-conflict contexts.
Within this framework, Ardielli Fornasa Associati present the essay ReclAIming Gaza—a critical reflection on the strategic use of architecture and Artificial Intelligence as instruments for reappropriation, transformation, and visionary urban thinking.
Far from being limited to physical reconstruction, ReclAIming Gaza explores the redefinition of urban identity and the collective right to imagine the future. The inclusion of AI within the title signals its central role in the design process—not as a replacement for human intent, but as a means of amplifying design capacity, enabling the articulation of alternative, data-informed scenarios.
In highly unstable spatial conditions, AI becomes a predictive and projective tool, redefining the paradigm of architectural decision-making. Reconstruction is framed not as restitution, but as an inscription within a transforming, fragile environment—an adaptive act that balances historical memory with future potential.
ReclAIming Gaza is thus positioned as a manifesto of intentionality and resilience, where technology and human agency converge in the service of responsible and anticipatory architecture.
